Know When to Check Your Brakes

March 9th, 2017 by

Knowing that our cars will come to a complete stop at a moment’s notice is an important aspect that we sometimes take for granted with our vehicle. It is very imperative to remember that our brake system is a part of a vehicle that wears down over a length of time and requires regular maintenance. So if you didn’t already know, here are some general rules of thumb for when to have your brakes inspected by a professional.

Check Your Brakes
Approximately 12,000 miles or more depending on usage of the vehicle, you should have a technician take a look at your brakes and regulate them accordingly. You can do this service when you are getting an oil change. Another idea to consider is to have a technician top off your brake fluid if necessary. Also, if a warning light on your vehicle’s dash happens to comes on, or you can hear a high pitched grinding when pressure gets applied to your brakes, it’s a good idea to get them checked.
